Metro North Railroad, and Amtrak hosted Bennett Levin's Juniata Terminal private passenger cars on The Metro
North Railroad Hudson Line, on Monday, September 8, 2008.
Onboard the train in Grand Central Terminal, ABC News and USA Today kicked off "50 States in 50 Days," an unprecedented
initiative to report from every state in the nation during the 50 days leading up to the presidential election.
The train operated from Grand Central Terminal, in Manhattan, departing at approx. 10 o'clock in the morning,
making scheduled stops at Yonkers, NY and Croton-Harmon, NY.
At Croton-Harmon, The Metro North Railroad Genesis Locomotive 204 was taken off the train, and Amtrak Genesis
Locomotive 716 did the honors to Albany-Rennselear, New York strongarming with one of Amtrak's best engineers, Juniata Railway
Private Cars Little Juniata Rapids (Pullman) , Warrior Ridge 1157 (Parlor), and Pennsylvania lettered (top
and bottom)120.
Seeing Pennsylvania painted private cars on The Former New York Central Hudson Division was a real treat.
From Sept. 15-19, "Good Morning America" will originate from this train that will travel to Stockbridge,
MA , Niagara Falls, NY, Gustavus, OH , Harpers Ferry, WV , and finally Washington, D.C. In the east, it will
ride on CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern and Housatonic Railroad.
The train will consist of Amtrak P42's
75, and 76, six Superliner Coaches, NPCU car 90225, and Juniata Terminal heavyweights 1157, and 120. The train has been modified
to become a broadcast studio and set, and is fitted with communications gear.
"Good Morning America Weekend," "Nightline" and "World News With Charles Gibson" will also broadcast from the rails
for the "50 States in 50 Days" tour.
ABCNews.com, "GMA Now" and USA Today will provide additional coverage of the historic event.
GMA is televised from
7-9 a.m. eastern time on ABC.
